In the state of New York, commercial casinos were set in motion back in December 2015. The state allowed for four commercial venues to be created and now only one remains in the construction phase. The Tioga Downs Casino was the first to offer casino gaming and then two additional casinos opened, the Rivers Casino & Resort as well as the del Lago Resort & Casino. Now, it has been announced that the final commercial casino, Resorts World Catskills, will be opening earlier than expected.

The Resorts World Catskills is located in Thompson, a town of Sullivan County. The venue will offer visitors casino gaming along with an all-suite hotel, dining, entertainment and more. A few months ago, it was expected that the casino would open in March. Now, the casino has released a new opening date for February 8th.

150 Table Games And  2,150 Slot Machines

The casino will officially begin offering casino gaming at 8am on February 8th. The 100,000 square foot facility will provide 150 table games like blackjack and craps along with 2,150 slot machines. Players will find there is something for everyone at the new casino. The casino will open early but the officially ribbon cutting ceremony for the new facility will take place at 11am that same day, to be followed by the traditional rolling of the dice.

The new venue is expected to be a popular resort destination in New York, providing a host of amenities for travelers as well as gamers. Once the casino opens, it will mark an end to the commercial casino projects in the state. On an interesting side note, lawmakers of New York have mentioned in the past that they were interested in online gaming but wanted to focus on land-based first. We will have to wait and see if the state begins to show interest in online gaming or if their focus remains on land-based options for now.
