In May of 1978, the Atlantic City Boardwalk was abuzz as the Resorts Casino Hotel prepared to open for business. The casino has been around for four decades now and continues to be a top visited spot in the region. The consistent presence of the brand in Atlantic City is a welcome sight, especially considering the tough time the region has seen over the years. This year, the brand is hosting a special Memorial Day party to commemorate their anniversary and offering quality fun all summer long in honor of their 40th year in business.

Mark Giannantonio, the CEO of Resorts, commented that the 40th anniversary is a celebration for the success of the casino and the brand looks forward to commemorating this exciting time in Resorts history by hosting three months of entertainment and promotions.

Resorts Casino has an interesting past. The property was the first legal hotel and casino located outside of Nevada when it opened in 1978. The casino was an instant hit and has been charming visitors every year since. In the 40 years of operation, Resorts has seen significant growth including adding on to the property as well as renovations. The casino was originally only 33,735 square feet in size and now is much larger at 83,000 square feet.

Last year, Resorts was awarded several local accolades including the Best Blackjack and Video Slots along with the Best Hotel Staff. To keep pace with the new venues coming to Atlantic City and existing competition, the brand recently invested more than $100m to renovate the property. Recent renovations include revamping guest rooms and the conference center, all set to be finished this spring.

A fun part of the upcoming celebrations is a historical re-enactment. The casino plans on reenacting the first roll of the dice, which should be quite fun and interesting. Guests will even be able to pull the very first slot machine of Atlantic City during the celebrations!
