Native American Tribe Plans New Casino in Santa Fe

Sadonna Price

It was announced just yesterday that that Tesuque Pueblo has plans to create a new casino in the city of Santa Fe. The group already operates the Camel Rock Casino of Santa Fe and has plans to shut down this gaming venue once the new facility is constructed. The tribe is hoping to begin ground breaking on the property in January.

Little information has been provided by the tribe as to what their exact plans are for the new venue. It has been reported that the casino will be located next to the famous Santa Fe Opera. The opera is an open-air venue and while officials of the tribe and the opera have been in discussions for several months now, it seems the opera house is concerned over the creation of the new gaming venue.

Casino With Beautiful Views Of The Local Landscape

Depending on the exact location, the casino may harm the vibe the opera house creates. The open-air venue has beautiful views of the local landscape as well as the ability to create amazing acoustics. With a casino nearby, there may be issue with traffic, noise, etc. With the first phase of the project, the casino will be created, offering slot machines and table gaming. In the future, the tribe plans on adding a hotel, so guests can stay overnight as well as other resort amenity options.

The tribe feels that the new project will provide employment for the region as well as provide a big boost to the economy of the region. If the project stays on task, ground breaking will begin next month, and the facility will open late next year. The property is set to have a unique design, with the architecture firm Dekker/Perich/Sabatini of Albuquerque providing the design plan.

The Tesuque Pueblo Tribal Council made the announcement yesterday on the new project with additional details to be revealed as the project begins next year.
