Sadonna Price

MGM Springfield is a new casino set to open in September 2018 in the state of Massachusetts. The massive project by MGM Resorts is progressing on schedule with the various construction phases in the works. Currently, construction of the garage for the integrated resort is moving along, set to offer 3,400 parking spaces.

The parking garage will play a vital role in controlling traffic for the new facility. According to news reports, a spokesman for MGM Springfield has stated that the parking facility will be finished by September and opened alongside the casino resort. The garage will include camera security as well as LED lights as a safety measure. Elevators have yet to be installed and the decking plus facing must be completed.

The casino has an agreement with the host municipality and as part of that agreement some parking spaces within the facility must remain reserved for municipal vehicles. The company will also be creating a parking program based on the flow of traffic expected for downtown Springfield due to the venue as well as various events. This program will be announced later on in the year.

When MGM Springfield opens, it will be the first commercial casino resort in the state offering Las Vegas style gaming. The casino resort project cost close to $1 billion and will have a fully operational casino along with a six-story hotel. The hotel being created is actually smaller than the previously proposed 25 story glass hotel tower.

The property will need a large staff to function on a day to day basis. Once operating fully, the MGM Springfield will require close to 3,000 employees. Executives of the casino have stated that the majority of employee pool will consist of residents from Springfield and immediate region. Several hiring events have already taken place with more job fairs set to continue this month.
