MGM Springfield Continues Hiring Process

Sadonna Price

Later this year, the MGM Springfield, a casino currently under construction in downtown Springfield, Massachusetts, will open, offering players a wide selection of casino gaming along with a luxury resort stay. The property is quite large and will require 3,000 employees. Right now, there are around 2,400 positions that are open at the MGM Springfield property. The casino recently added 75 more positions to help find new employees for the venue.

The expanded list of employee opportunities for the MGM Springfield venue includes job descriptions for each position helping potential employees to see what is on offer. The newer opportunities offer positions in food and beverage service, locksmiths, carpenters, painters, human resources, retail management, etc.

Michael Mathis is the COO and President of MGM Springfield who stated that the opportunities for employment within the venue are endless. The brand looks forward to meeting passionate and enthusiastic people that are interested in bringing the property to live.

The plan to develop the casino in Springfield first emerged in 2012 and saw MGM becoming partners with over two dozen local community groups to provide education and workforce training to help prepare the community for open positions. Included in the partnerships is the Massachusetts Casino Career Training Institute. This group is working to train the dealers that will operate table games at the facility.

Potential employees will have to fill out an application for the position they hope to acquire, with a background check completed. Employees who work within certain categories of the casino will have to be registered or obtain licensing from the state Gaming Commission before they will be allowed to work.

When employees are hired, they will be able to register with the Career Center and then be assisted with the licensing process. The new resort has plans to offer a package for employees that includes pay and benefits with salaries averaging $40,000+. Most positions on offer will be full-time and include benefits.
