Hard Rock International continues to prep the former site of the Trump Taj Mahal to become the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City. The casino has already undergone several stages of renovations including removing the gaudy décor and exterior that Trump first installed in the 1990s. The company purchased the venue for just $50 million, far under the $1 billion construction cost of the Taj Mahal when it was first created, and plans on spending much more as part of the improvements to the property. It has now been announced that the casino will be home to a car wash and gas station, along with gaming and guest accommodations.
Hard Rock International In Atlantic City
Hard Rock International has big plans for their new gaming venue in Atlantic City. The property should be ready to open by summer of 2018 and feature a casino, restaurant dining, guest accommodations and more. The casino should include as many as 2,400 slot machines and 130 table games.
For the new car wash and gas station plans, the Hard Rock will see their installation at the corner of Pacific Avenue and Virginia Avenue. Titled Rockstop Gas & Wash, the proposed plans for construction should be discussed later on this month.
Hard Rock International Acquired The Former Trump Taj Mahal
Excitement has been building since Hard Rock International acquired the former Trump Taj Mahal. Former owner Carl Icahn had closed the casino due to conflicts with employees. Once taking on the property, Icahn was given permission to cut health care and pension plans for employees via a bankruptcy court, which employees were not happy with. After employees went on strike for a few months, Icahn decided to shut down the venue in late 2016.
Now that the property has new owners, gamblers, as well as city officials, are ready to see the venue open once again. The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City will have a unique look known to the Hard Rock brand and is said to be set to offer a family-friendly environment, something the Trump Taj Mahal never provided.
