One of the most popular casino resorts in Vegas, Golden Nugget, wants to take the iGaming experience to another level. The solution to this challenge was signing Scientific Games, one of the leaders in the iGaming industry.
The company issued a statement together with Scientific Games, claiming that the two sides will do their best to improve the online gambling action offered by Golden Nugget.
On top of that, the casino will also introduce sports gambling to it. The partnership between the two companies is not new, as SG already helps their partner with online gaming in several other states. The new deal is set to remain active until 2024.
As written in the official statement, Scientific Gaming will deliver its popular OpenGaming platform to all venues operated by Golden Nugget that are currently located in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Since many other states in the US are currently working hard on making iGaming possible, the Nugget will have an opportunity to explore those markets as well, together with SG’s technology.
The deal also states that SG should provide the Nugget with its cutting-edge Open Gaming System, which is not only a content aggregation platform but also a portal and a solution for player account management.
Right now, Nugget is present in a total of four states. There are two venues in Nevada, and one venue in New Jersey, Mississippi and Louisiana.
Adopting Sports Betting Technology from SG
Tilman Fertitta’s company also wants to acquire the so-called OpenSports suite, which is a suite of products that explore the world of sports gambling and facilitate operations related to it.
Via the solutions on the platform, Nuggets will be able to offer mobile betting in states where it is present and where online wagering is legalized. However, there’s also an option to offer OpenSports as a retail option in New Jersey, Nevada and Mississippi.
Senior Vice President and GM for Online Gaming for the Nugget, Thomas Winter, stated that the company had “a long history with Scientific Games.” He added that SG’s technology was a cornerstone for the sports betting operations and iGaming strategy adopted by the Nugget.
Finally, he concluded that they were excited to continue their work with Scientific Games.
Sports wagering is definitely a lucrative industry, and casino operators entering the business are looking for new ways to profit, and that’s no exception for the Nugget. However, that’s a bit more difficult with the company, as its owner Fertitta is also the owner of the NBA’s Houston Rockets.
Therefore, Fertitta could see some of the problems arise on the way as the law strictly forbids team owners from doing any kind of business that is related to sports betting. This doesn’t mean that the company would be completely cut-off from doing business in sports wagering, but it means they might not have all betting markets available as part of the offer.
However, time will tell how Fertitta would be able to handle this maneuver.
